The Poetess

A second painting of German model La Esmeralda (the first being the mermaid). I liked the fact that there was a still-life wrapped up in this picture, with some old-fashioned lighting.

I went for purple/midnight blue in the dress - over the gothic blacks of the original photo I worked from - and I also swapped her arm-length gloves for bare arms. I hope this provides a more romantic quality to the overall composition.
